Over 100 people came to a community event at Walkerburn Village Hall on 22 February 2025

Action Against Pylons: Scottish Borders Alliance volunteers were out in force to talk to the community about why we don’t want pylons in the Tweed Valley.

Walkerburn and District Council did a brilliant job of bringing different community groups together, including Walkerburn Crafts4U and the Golden Eagle Project. This was the first time your correspondent had been able to meet our local anti-pylon groups from Thornielee and Laidlawsteil, and Walkerburn in person. I learned a lot from everyone including Local Councillor Julie Pirone who came to support us. The delicious macaroni cheese, I was informed, was made by a former army chef. All the scones and cakes were home baked. It's hard to talk to people with a scone in your mouth but we managed.
