OUR ECONOMY AND OUR PRECIOUS ENVIRONMENT WILL BE DAMAGED FOREVER IF SPEN IS ALLOWED TO VANDALISE THE SCOTTISH BORDERS

If Scottish Power are allowed to build giant pylons 200 metres apart for 50 miles across the historic and unspoilt Scottish Borders we believe our economy and our environment will be damaged, for ever. As hotel owner Rory Steel says, his business relies on tourism to survive. If tourists see pylons, they will go elsewhere. As Steve Durk says, paragliding will cease. As Rosi Lister says, our environment will be damaged forever. There are many other examples of businesses that will suffer. As ITV journalist Lucy Anderson says, they did not have time to visit all the sites that will be affected.

SPEN claim that the project will ‘"The Cross Border project is a vital infrastructure upgrade that will unlock economic growth, jobs, homes and businesses across the region…”. In our opinion, this claim is pure fantasy and should not be taken seriously.
